"Bluebeard" Week 8 - William Marshall - Weather, Ambience and Audio

"Bluebeard" - William Marshall Week 8 - Weather, Ambience and Audio Intro As I slowly crept my way to making a rigged/animated character, I decided to deviate and add a few more improvements that focused on atmosphere, ambience and audio. However, I did not neglect the key animation point and did a little on it this week too. In comparison to last week, I believe that I did a substantial amount of work this week and could feasibly get my game to a passable standard (as it will meet all the requirements from the brief as soon as animations are implemented) by the end of next week. I do not doubt that I can finish this project on time, even being able to add things from my wishlist to it. Main Character Rigging In order to begin animating my character, it was necessary to rig it. Rigging involved placing graphical bones onto my 2D sprite and 'binding' them (which determined which area of my sprite would be moved by each individual bone). Project Imp...

"Bluebeard" - William Marshall Week 7 - Overall Project Improvement and Character Work Intro My 7th week marked my continuation of general project improvement, as well as finally managing to conquer my fear of character creation by creating my main character! Other than that important task, I simply asked my Tutor for a list of things to improve on with my project. Personally, I believe that I didn't do enough this week in terms of quantity. Main Character Creation My game had been lacking a main character graphic for quite some time now. Even though I knew it wouldn't be amazing, I went ahead and created my Noblewoman, after doing a few sketches based on references I was looking at. Task 1 - Character Sketching/Main Design In order to understand the shapes that I was working with, I ...

"Bluebeard" - William Marshall Week 6 - Overall Project Improvement Intro Last week, I insisted that I wanted to get back into the swing of my project and begin making some big improvements. This was done to ensure that I made up for the last week where I did less due to illness. As a result, this week did not have a particular focus. Instead, I added changes as I thought them up, focusing on more general improvements for the entire project. Main Menu Improvements I was aware that my Main Menu looked quite bare and barren. As such, I wanted to work more on the background (as I had been putting it off for quite some time). Additionally, in this week's lecture, I was also told by Dan that I could improve my main title by making a new graphic in Photoshop. Task 1 - Main Title In Photoshop, I used the INSOMNIA font which I had experimented with before a few weeks ago. Since it was quite bold and looked like it had been attacked by a knife - I decided to writ...
